July 3, 2018 By Contributed Article Leave a Comment

The East Ridge Police Department wishes to remind residents of East Ridge that shooting fireworks inside the city limits is illegal.

Citizens who choose to use fireworks in other, legal locations should ensure the safety of those around them. It’s estimated that around 230 serious injuries occur around the July 4 holiday every year. Additionally, around 3,000 children are injured throughout the year from mishaps with fireworks. The most common injuries are suffered as the result of sparklers.

There are many public, legal displays of fireworks in the area and citizens are encouraged to enjoys those shows.
