The City of East Ridge advises residents and motorists of planned roadway safety improvements scheduled to take place on Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Belvoir Avenue between Fountain Avenue and Belvoir Circle.
This work includes the installation of approximately 400 linear feet of guardrail along the northbound shoulder of Belvoir Avenue “S” curves. This work is a part of the City’s annual resurfacing program and is the first in a series of planned safety improvements for the Belvoir Avenue “S” curves. Belvoir Avenue will remain open during the guardrail installation, however, traffic will be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers in the temporary work zone. Motorists should seek alternate routes during this period to avoid delays.
Additional safety improvements, planned over the course of the next few weeks, include the addition of raised/reflective pavement markings (RPM’s), thermoplastic striping, and additional signage. These planned safety improvements are intended to provide additional advance warning of the “S” curves and the 20 MPH speed limit, provide roadside protection of residential property within the “S” curves, and improve visibility of the roadway during nighttime and low-light conditions. A separate press release will be issued once the additional work is scheduled.
The City of East Ridge appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as these safety improvements are implemented.
