On the late evening of September 18, 2026, HCSO deputies were notified of a social media video showing a male juvenile abusing a dog. 

The investigation led to deputies apprehending the suspect, and he was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and faces a charge of Cruelty to Animals.

Animal services responded to the residence, and an adult family member kept the dog. A animal services will follow up on the dog’s condition.

“We want to thank the public for bringing this disgusting video of a male juvenile brutally abusing a dog to our attention,” said Sheriff Austin Garrett. “Our deputies acted swiftly to this abuse, investigating and taking the suspect into custody. Animal cruelty has no place in Hamilton County. If you cannot treat animals with compassion, you do not deserve to have them.”
