Law and Order July 1

The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department.

Day Shift June 27

25-006797 – 6500 BLK Ringgold Road – Theft – Police responded to the hotel after an employee alleged an unknown male stole $160 from the register. The employee said the man asked if there were any jobs available. The clerk turned away to get him an application and the man took the money out of the till and left the hotel. Officers observed a surveillance video that corroborated the employee’s depiction of the event.

25-006804 – 1000 BLK Lansdell Road – Backup EMS – Police responded with Fire and EMS to assist a man who was experiencing symptoms of heat exposure. The party was in a wheelchair attempting to make his way to the hospital before he became too fatigued to continue. EMS transported him for treatment.

25-006815 – 6000 BLK Ringgold Road – Theft – Police were called to the shop after a woman received an alert that her lost debit card was being used to purchase tires. Upon arrival police spoke with the owner who said the driver/purchaser of the tires was on his way back to get the tires put on. Police spoke with the suspect, who had been identified as the man who bought the tires earlier in the day. The suspect was issued a misdemeanor citation for theft.

25-006816- 601 Justice Way.- Warrant Service – While in Custody at the Hamilton County jail, a man was served with two Forfeiture Capias warrants. The original charges were for simple possession of Marijuana and possession of counterfeit controlled substance.

25-006813-4214 Ringgold Rd.- Warrant Service – Police served three Forfeiture Capias warrants. The original charges were Possession of Meth for resale, Possession of Crack Cocaine for resale and tampering with evidence. The subject was transported to the jail without incident.

25-006809 – 30 BLK Dunlap Ave – Traffic Stop/Evading – Police attempted to stop a Silver Infinity Q50. The vehicle fled driving recklessly and almost lost control turning onto West Main St. The attempted traffic stop was terminated, and the vehicle was entered into LPR.

Night Shift June 27

25-006819 – 4214 Ringgold Road – Severe Weather Response – East Ridge Police responded to several weather-related incidents during a severe thunderstorm. Torrential rain resulted in flash flooding on several roadways. Lighting and high winds created several residential power outages and loss of power for traffic control devices at two major intersections. Police and Fire units also responded to a fallen tree on John Ross Road which blocked a large portion of the roadway. Most services were restored within two hours of the storm.

25-006832 – 3600 BLK Ringgold Road – Traffic Stop / Assist Other Agency – Following a traffic stop, a man was taken into custody for two arrest warrants through Hamilton County. The charges on the warrants were Contempt of Court and Failure to Pay Child Support. He was transported to the Hamilton County Jail without incident.

25-006841 – 1000 BLK S. Seminole Drive – Psychiatric Emergency – Mobile Crisis advised that man was expressing suicidal ideations at his residence. Police responded with a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer who met the subject and discussed his situation. Following the conversation, the subject went into protective custody and was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

25-006842 – 1200 BLK John Ross Road – Traffic Stop / Assist Other Agency / Arrest – Following a traffic stop, Police conducted Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) testing and determined that the subject had been driving while under the influence of narcotics. Police also found that a passenger had an arrest warrant out of the Hamilton County Criminal Court for a probation violation. Both were taken into custody and transported to Hamilton County Jail. At the jail, one was found to have a small bag of methamphetamine hidden on her person and was given an additional charge for illegal drug possession.

Day Shift June 28

25-006848 – 4400 BLK Ringgold Rd. – Disorder – Police responded to the vape shop on reports of a named man placing spikes down in the parking lot. On arrival, officers spoke with the subject who advised he did not place spikes down and was not aware of what police were speaking of. Officers spoke with the employee who provided police with a video showing the man taking an item out of his pocket and tossing it on the ground. The video was not clear enough to show if the item was a spiked object.

25-006850 – 4214 Ringgold Rd. – Harassment – A party wished to report that her ex-husband had been harassing her. She claimed that he threatened to come to her home and fight their son. She provided text messages from the man. The messages did not show a clear threat.

25-006853 – 6700 BLK Ringgold Rd – Drug Paraphernalia – An officer observed a female driver slumped over the wheel behind the hotel. During a probable cause search, she was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The evidence was seized for destruction.

25-006869 – 6700 BLK Ringgold Road – Drug Overdose/Arrest – An unknown male called Dispatch and alleged his girlfriend was overdosing and needed CPR. After canvassing the area, an officer spotted a male and young female pull into a nearby gas station and conducted a consensual encounter. The female advised she was of the same age as the alleged victim, but both parties denied calling police. A consensual search of the vehicle located suspected Fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. A party was taken into custody, transported for medical clearance, and then taken to Hamilton County Jail without incident.

Night Shift June 28

25-006877 – 1400 BLK St. Thomas Street – Theft of Property / Narcotics Violation / Arrest – Police responded to a theft complaint at the motel. A hotel guest reported his phone was stolen by a male suspect staying in another room. Hotel security cameras confirmed the theft, and a search warrant was obtained for the room. Police found three individuals in the room and determined one of the occupants was the theft suspect. In addition, officers located methamphetamine, ecstasy, and drug paraphernalia. Based on the investigation, three occupants were arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Ecstasy, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. One was also charged with Theft of Property over $1,000. All three individuals were transported to Hamilton County Jail.

25-006884 – 4214 Ringgold Road – Arrest Warrant Hold – Deputies with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office located a fugitive with an arrest warrant through the City of East Ridge. A hold was placed, and he was transported to the Catoosa County Jail. The charge on the arrest warrant was Domestic Assault.

Day Shift June 29

25-006893-5400 BLK Oakdale Ave.-Disorder – Police were dispatched to this residence on reports of a male threating his roommate. The complainant advised the subject had threatened to kill him. Police were informed by a caregiver that the complainant is known to embellish situations to get his way. Officers advised the parties to separate and the caregiver would ensure nothing further occurred between the two.

Night Shift June 29

25-006912 – 900 BLK McBrien Road – Suspicious Activity – Police received multiple calls concerning a male lightly striking a street sign. Police checked the area and located him playing with a signpost. He stated he was playing his “steel guitar” because the world does not understand the importance of good music anymore. He agreed to leave the area.

25-006916 – 4300 BLK Ringgold Road – Public Intoxication / Arrest – Police responded to a suspicious Person complaint at the grocery store. Employees stated an intoxicated male came into the store, created a disorder, and left on a bicycle. An officer located the suspect and identified him. Police determined that he was extremely intoxicated and a danger to himself. He was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.

25-006921 – 1500 BLK Joshua Drive – Suspicious Activity – A concerned citizen reported seeing two individuals with flashlights roaming around his neighbor’s yard. Police checked the area but discovered no disturbance on the ground or other indicators of suspicious activity. Officers then determined that three men were working on an RV at a nearby house, which may have been mistaken as suspicious behavior in the neighbor’s yard.

Day Shift June 30

25-006946- 1000 BLK Yale Street- Domestic Disorder/ Arrest – A man called, stating that an ex-girlfriend  was allegedly stalking him. Police found the ex-girlfriend in the 1000 block of Yale Street. She fled, running the stop sign located at Wentworth and Yale Street. An officer stopped the vehicle from going anywhere and identified the driver as the ex. Police were able to smell alcohol on her breath and conducted Standardized Field Sobriety. Based on observations, she was taken into custody for DUI, driving on a suspended Driver’s License, Financial Responsibility, and falsifying or forging evidence of title.

Night Shift June 30

25-006956 – 300 BLK Frawley Rd– Assist EMS – A man was given a ride to the hospital at his request while apparently experiencing a mental health crisis. A CO2 gun found in his possession was placed into property for safekeeping.
