Note from the Editor

Tucker McClendon wrote an opinion piece yesterday for East Ridge News Online regarding the rezoning of residential property to commercial. He is concerned that city officials are not as concerned about the 21,000 residents in East Ridge as about commercial interest.

I want to remind every readers of ERNO and every resident in East Ridge that when I first began publishing East Ridge News Online in 2012 that the “Opinion” section was devised to allow readers and residents to express their own opinions and submit them for publication. It was never meant to be an exclusive platform for me or others who have written articles for ERNO to express editorial stances.

So, if you’ve got an opinion regarding anything that is going on in East Ridge or the area, there is an outlet for them on East Ridge News Online. You may email your opinion at [email protected].

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
