Police Briefs July 23

The following information was compiled from East Ridge Police Department “pass along” reports.

July 22 Day Shift

1417 Mack Smith Road:

Police got out with Mr. and Mrs. Bass at this location.  Mr. Bass advised that they were homeless and were just in the parking lot changing clothes.  Mr. Bass was checked for any warrants and it was verified that he had a warrant out of Bartow County, Georgia.  Mr. Bass was placed into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.  He was issued a misdemeanor citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

941 Spring Creek Road:

Police responded to the hospital after a man arrived with a gunshot wound.  The victim advised that the incident occurred the night before in Brainerd.  Chattanooga Police Department was notified of the incident and they responded to the scene. 

6200 Ringgold Road:

The caller advised that the driver of a Chevrolet Suburban backed out of a parking space beside her parked vehicle and struck her Honda Pilot in the process.  The driver of the Suburban left the scene. 

1407 John Ross Road:

Patrol officers assisted detectives with a warrant service at this location. 

6305 Ringgold Road:

Police encountered Amanda Decker after a concerned citizen reported that she was displaying strange behavior and having problems walking.  Ms. Decker was checked for warrants and found to have a verified warrant out of Red Bank.  Ms. Decker was taken into custody and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. 

5800 Ringgold Road:

A man flagged police down after he claimed that Kasalin Porter approached him at this location and began to question him about an incident that occurred in Georgia on a previous date.  The man claimed that during the conversation Porter threatened to harm him.  Police later contacted Porter on Oakdale Avenue at San His Drive.  Porter claimed that he did not make any such statements.  Police checked Porter for warrants, and he was found to have a valid warrant through the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear.  Police arranged to meet the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office at exit 11 and transferred custody of Porter. 

1416 Choate Road:

The resident reported that his silver and black Smith and Wesson . 40 caliber was taken sometime on July 17, 2019. 

4300 Fountain Avenue:

Police received calls in this area of a male subject running through backyards like he was being chased.  Upon arrival, the subject was gone. 

5080 South Terrace:

A caller reported that while she attended the AMC theater over the weekend, an unknown subject scratched letters in the side of her door.

Night Shift

1413 Mana Lane:

Robert Hunter and Mark Harvey were both arrested for aggravated domestic assault.  The arrest stemmed from a large disorder that occurred as a result of a death in the family. 

1119 Altamaha Street:

The complainant called to advise that her son’s bicycle (gold Haro BMX) had been stolen between 9:00 pm on the night of July 19th and 8:00 am on July 20th.  The juvenile stated that he was going to sell the bicycle to a friend but then realized it had been stolen.  Later that day, he saw his friend riding the bicycle past his house.  He asked his friend where he had gotten the bicycle and he stated that he bought it from David E. for $50. 

1600 Springvale Road:

Officers were conducting a patrol of Springvale Road when they observed a male subject wearing dark clothing while walking a bicycle through the grass.  As police got closer to the subject, he dropped the bicycle and fled eastbound on foot.  The subject dropped his backpack in the process.  Inside the backpack were miscellaneous tools, clothing, and .8 grams of suspected methamphetamine.  There was no identification inside the backpack.  The bicycle (Schwinn Stingray) was run through NCIC but returned with no stolen record. 

100 I-75 Southbound:

The driver of a black Dodge Charger lost control of the vehicle and struck the guardrail on the southwest side of the roadway.  The driver and passenger left the scene. 

3713 Ringgold Road:

Police again responded to Subway for an alarm.  The doors and windows appeared secure.  Nothing appeared out of the ordinary. 

601 Belvoir Avenue:

Police were notified of a female subject that had exited a minivan in this area.  The female subject was said to be screaming at the driver of the van.  The driver of the van continued to circle for a moment as the female subject walked east on South Terrace.  Police did not locate the van or the female.
