Red Wolves Get Draw at Home

August 23, 2026 By Contributed Article Leave a Comment

The Red Wolves battled the New York Cosmos to a 3-3 draw Saturday at CHI Memorial Stadium in USL League One action.

The Wolves will try to get back in the win column next Saturday when they host AC Boise.

Kickoff marked the beginning of the first-ever clash between the Wolves and the Cosmos, and Pedro Hernandez marked the tone.

A breakthrough in the first thirty seconds put Yanis Lelin in front of the goalie, and after his shot was deflected, Pedro appeared from the horde of players to relaunch it. It burst past opposing goalie Tristan Stephani and brought the Wolves to an early lead.

The Cosmos would take a chunk of possession, but no attempt of theirs in the first 45 minutes, including three corners, would prevail. And it wouldn’t be much longer before another stunning breakthrough. Near the Cosmos’ box, Kinzner intercepted a pass between two of the visitors and fed it toward a swiftly approaching Matt Bentley. When Bentley slid in just short, it was Tobi Adewole who swooped down to slam the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.

It was in the three minutes of stoppage time that the Cosmos found a brief opening, their Sebastian Guenzatti placing a shot into the left of the net. Halftime set in just a minute later, and though the lead had been halved, the Wolves remained confident.

Briefly into the second half, the Cosmos scored a second time to equalize, but Chattanooga would have none of it.

Three minutes afterward, a brutal press into the visitors’ box allowed Yanis Lelin a slim opening, which he took to send a right-footed rocket by Stephani and revive the lead.

The challengers would equalize a second time, however, courtesy of their Arjeem Spengler.

From then the tension skyrocketed. Chattanooga stepped up its defense, refusing to allow another mistake, and pressed as hard as they could for a final game-changer. Earning 3 corners and winning 19 tackles throughout, they locked out the opposition for the remainder of the match.

Though a fourth goal never arrived, the Wolves maintained quality for just their second draw of the season.
