RINGGOLD – Since the Board of Assessors mailed approximately 30,500 notices of assessment to property owners on June 26, they have received about 1,200 appeals during the 45-day appeal period and has started reviewing those appeals with on-site visits.

The on-site visits are a necessary first step toward verifying the Assessors Board’s records and to collect any further information that could potentially affect a property’s valuation.

If during a review an adjustment to the property value is made the property owner will receive an amended notice of assessment. If the property owner does not agree with the value on the amended notice they may appeal within 30 days for a hearing with the Board of Equalization. Additionally, appeals resulting in no change in value will also be forwarded to the Board of Equalization.
