Police Briefs for Jan. 16

The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department.

Day Shift January 15: Alpha Squad

25-000515- 5300 BLK Dupont Street- Disorder Prevention – A woman contacted police about being unfairly evicted by the other tenant of this property. She and her four children had rented a room from the current renter, who is an acknowledged mental health consumer. On this date, she stated the tenant slipped a piece of paper under the door to her room with a note telling her to vacate the property. Officers responded to the residence and spoke to the involved parties. The caller advised she would collect hers and her children’s belongings and voluntarily leave which she did. East Ridge Code Enforcement was contacted and responded to inspect the residence due to its dilapidated condition. ERCE advised they would follow up with the home’s owner.

25-000528 – 1500 BLK McDonald Road – Property – Police responded to check an abandoned storage unit that was suspected to be full of firearms and ammo. Per their policy, employees advised they could not remove any firearms, etc and would need police to take possession of the items. Police checked the contents of the unit and did not locate any weapons.

Night Shift January 15: Charlie Squad

25-000536 – 1000 BLK S Seminole Drive – Motor Vehicle Crash / Arrest – Police responded to a two-vehicle crash. During the investigation, an officer determined that a woman was driving while intoxicated and was responsible for the crash. She was taken into custody, charged with DUI and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.

25-000537 – 4000 BLK Patton Drive – Suspicious Activity – Police received several complaints about two males knocking on doors and claiming to be Verizon representatives. Police checked the neighborhood and found the individuals had left the area.

25-000542 – 601 Justice Way – Warrant Service – While in custody at the Hamilton County Jail, a man was served with a Forfeiture Capias from East Ridge. The original charge for the capias was shoplifting.

25-000544 – 500 BLK S St Marks Avenue – Assist Other Agency – Police arrested a woman at her residence for warrants through the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. A Hamilton County Deputy responded to the location and transported her to the jail without incident. The arrest warrants were for Violation of Protection Orders.

25-000546 – 6800 BLK Ringgold Road – Assist Other Agency – The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with an aggravated assault investigation involving a suspect from East Ridge. The suspect and his guardian agreed to meet with Catoosa County Deputies at a grocery store in Georgia. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

25-000547 – 4100 BLK Ringgold Road – Road Hazard – The rear gate of a commercial waste truck malfunctioned and approximately 200 pounds of trash spilled on the roadway. Police cleared a portion of the debris to maintain vehicle traffic in the area. A company crew responded to the location and cleaned up the debris.
