According to a police report, officers were called to the apartments at 3725 Fountain Avenue at 11:33 p.m. in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival police spoke with a female witness who said she was standing on her patio when she saw a dark-colored, four-door sedan with tinted windows drive up to the front of the apartment building. The witness said that she saw a black man get out of the passenger side of the car and start running down the hill toward the building next to her own.

The report states that the woman saw the driver fire one shot from the inside of the car at the man who had fled. She told police that the driver then got out of the car and fired a shot over the roof of the car at the fleeing man. The witness described the gun as a semi-automatic.

The report states that police searched the 21-30 building, which was where the witness said the passenger ran to, and recovered a spent .40-cal. shell casing, as well as the copper jacket to the fired round. Police did not locate any shell casings where the driver was believed to be positioned when he fired over the car. Officers checked the surrounding apartments but did not locate additional witnesses to the incident.

The witness described the suspect as being a tall, thin, black man wearing a dark-colored jacket.. He may have been wearing dreadlocks that were pulled up into a bun on his head. The suspect’s car was described by the witness as possibly a silver, four-door Ford Fusion with tinted windows.
