_ Police arrested a Chattanooga man for allegedly abusing his child in McDonald’s recently. Gary Kirkland was charged with two counts of child abuse on July 22. He is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday. According to an affidavit of complaint, officers were called to the Ringgold Road restaurant by patrons in the parking lot. The complaint states that Kirkland “picked up a male child by his shirt lifting his feet off the ground and pushing him into the vehicle. He then picked up the female child and pushed her into the vehicle as well.” The report states that the male juvenile had a fresh scratch across his chest which was caused by the suspect grabbing the juvenile’s shirt. The female child, the report states, had a scratch to her chest and a small scratch to the upper lip, which she said she received from the seat belt as she was thrown into the vehicle. Police obtained a copy of the parking lot surveillance video, the report states.

_ Police were dispatched to the Bimini Apartments in regard to an assault. According to an affidavit of complaint, the victim told officers that his child’s mother came to pick up their children at the address. When the victim tried to buckle the children into the vehicle his wife, Margarita Maria Andres, closed the van doors on him while he was still leaning into the vehicle. The report states that Andres then became physical, taking off her shoe and hitting the victim about the face and arms. The victim told police that Andres ripped his shirt and scratched him on the shoulder and back of his neck. He refused medical attention, the report states.

_ Police have charged a Moulten, Alabama man with aggravated burglary. According to an affidavit of complaint, the victim told officers that an “acquaintance” of his known as “Keith” came to his house on Lee Street to pick him up for work. The suspect asked to return inside the house to use the restroom. The report states that the victim locked the door on his way out but thought he heard the lock “actuate” as “Keith” emerged from the house. The victim returned home after work to find several thousand dollars worth of electronics, clothing and personal items missing. The report states that the victim was able to find “Keith” on several social media sites. The party was posting photos of himself wearing articles of clothing taken in the burglary. Police and the victim were able to locate the vehicle used by “Keith” at a Henderson Road address in Huntsville, Ala. In late June, the report states, that police identified “Keith” as Milton Keith Barnes. They also located the property taken from the Lee Street home of the victim in Barnes’ possession. The total value of the property taken was valued at $10,506. Barnes is scheduled to appear in City Court on Tuesday evening.

_ Police have charged a man with Possession of Schedule II Methamphetamine for Resale and Criminal Impersonation after officers broke up a fight on N. Mack Smith Road. According to an affidavit of complaint, an officer saw two men cursing at each other and preparing to fight on July 23 near Superior Creek Lodge. The officer separated the men and asked for their names, the report states. One of the men identified himself as Steven Mason, but could not give the officer his social security number. The report states that the officer then saw the word “Nation” tattooed on the man’s abdomen and recognized him as Steven Linza Nation. The report states that the officer saw Nation toss an item across a parked van. The officer then retrieved a plastic sandwich bag that was tossed, containing four packages of suspected methamphetamine. The report states that the packages weighed one-eighth ounce and a half ounce. Nation was searched prior to being taken to the Hamilton County Jail. According to the report, police found a blue box in Nation’s pocket containing two small packages of meth, a straw and an empty bag. The total weight of the methamphetamine seized was 25.1 grams. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine, the report states.
