The Chattanooga Police Department is investigating a crash that resulted in a pedestrian’s death Monday afternoon.

At approximately 11 a.m., CPD’s Traffic Unit responded to a crash involving a pedestrian in the 7500 block of Shallowford Road. Preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian, a 65-year-old woman, was attempting to cross the road and stepped in front of a vehicle. The driver attempted to swerve, but still hit the pedestrian.

Hamilton County EMS responded and transported the woman to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
