Catholic pushed its win streak to 20 games over the last two years by upending Silverdale, 36-0, last Thursday at Silverdale’s impressive Seahawk Stadium.

It was a hot, muggy evening but the action on the field was even hotter.  The game featured six different Catholic players reaching the end-zone and its stingy defense not giving up a single first down.

Maverick Tucker, Landon Cooling, Boston Eberly, Tucker Berry and Ben Babrey anchored the Rams’ impressive line.

Christian Robinson recorded an interception,  while Eric Lindsey, Berry, Tucker, Bambrey and Cooling recorded sacks.

On the offensive side, River Stump scored on a 54-yard strike from C.J. Petrin.   Adding rushing touchdowns were Alex Osborne, Bennett Brinson,  Petrin, Cooling, and sixth grader Cameron Elliott scored his first middle school touchdown.

Catholic,  a cooperative middle school football team of OLPH (East Ridge) and St. Jude (Hixson),  is enjoying a twenty game win streak. The Rams are 3-0 on the 2016 season.

Defensive Coordinator and Co-head Coach Billy Dearing was quick to praise the stingy Catholic defense.

“We have a solid, fundamental defense with a lot of great tacklers,” Coach Billy Dearing said. “Silverdale is a well-coached team. Shutting them down requires a lot of effort.”

Coach Bucky Dearing was impressed that six different Rams  scored touchdowns, giving the lion share of credit to the Offensive line.  The only blight for Catholic was its first personal foul penalty in over three and one-half years.

“We took great pride that our team hadn’t received a 15 yard penalty since 2012,” said Coach Bucky Dearing. “Looking at the film I’m not sure we deserved this one,  but we won’t complain. We’ll just work toward not receiving another.”

Catholic’s next opponent is Lookout Valley.  The Rams will host the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, September 6, at 6 p.m..
