Three Family Members Accused of Assault, Burglary

September 27, 2016 By Dick Cook 1 Comment

A husband, his wife and their adult son allegedly barged into a man’s house and assaulted him, last Thursday.

Clifford James Farris Jr., 43, his 55-year-old wife, Yvonne Gail Farris and their son, James Michael Farris, 22, are all charged with Simple Assault and Aggravated Burglary. Mrs. Farris and her son were jailed on a $15,000 bond, while Clifford Farris’ bond was $2,000. All three are set to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Nov. 1.

According to an affidavit of complaint, police were called to a house in the 100 block of Fawn Drive just before 11 p.m. on an “assault in progress” call. It was noted that officers had been at the residence earlier regarding threats made by several members of the Farris family toward the victim via text and phone messages.

The report states that during the incident, Yvonne Farris drove her husband and their son to Fawn Drive to confront or engage in physical contact with the 19-year old male victim. Two witnesses at the scene, one of them being the victim’s sister and the mother of James Farris’ child, said the three Farrises barged into the house, went downstairs and the two Farris men attacked the victim. The report noted that James Farris lived at the Fawn Drive residence but had moved out a week earlier.

“They punched him and pushed him into furniture, breaking several pieces and damaging a multitude of belongings at the residence,” the report states. The victim suffered what appeared to be a broken nose and deep cuts and lacerations to his upper body, the report states. According to the witnesses, Yvonne Farris was also part of the fight, but wasn’t able to make physical contact with the victim.

The fight continued and made its way outside, the report states. At this point, Mrs. Farris attacked the victim and scratched and cut the victim on his back.

Once police were called, the report states, the suspects took off. Police located the Farris family just across the Georgia line. One of the suspects, Clifford Farris, requested medical help and was taken to Parkridge East. The other family members voluntarily followed the ambulance to the hospital.
