Thieves Strike at Yard Sale

May 18, 2017 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

Police were called to the 600 block of South Seminole Drive on Sunday regarding a theft from a yard sale. According to a police report, the officer spoke with a man who said he was having a yard sale and three women stole multiple items during the event. The victim said that the women arrived in two cars, the only description of which were green and black. The women expressed interest in buying several items, and according to the victim, one woman offered to exchange methamphetamine for the items in lieu of cash payment.

The victim told the officer that they had firearms that they wanted to sell. He said that one woman, who identified herself as Renee, wrote her first name down on a post-it note along with her phone number. According to the report, the victim was “not sure” why she did this.

According to the report, the three women made off with a coffee table, canteen, cabinet, bread box, cordless drill, four wooden boxes, collapsible camping chair and three area rugs. There is no further information at this time, the report states.

_ 5418 Ringgold Rd.: On Monday morning police responded to the Apollo Car Wash in reference to a theft. According to a police report, dispatch advised the officer that the complainant was not at the location but had been monitoring closed circuit television of the theft. The complainant said that a man had tampered with a coin machine in one of the stalls. The caller told dispatchers that the suspect was using some kind of generic key to access the machine. According to the caller, the man was accompanied by a woman and possibly two small children. The suspect was diving a white car with two black racing stripes on it.

Prior to police arrival, the caller told dispatch that the car had exited the parking lot and was traveling east on Ringgold Road. The report states that while the officer was en route, he passed a silver Ford Mustang with racing stripes on the top as it was heading east down the highway. At the time, police were unable to confirm the description of the vehicle, but did see that it was driven by a man with a woman in the front passenger seat and two children in the back.

According to the report, the owner of the car wash provided investigators with photos and video surveillance footage of the incident. Unfortunately, because of the quality of the images and the distance of the surveillance  camera authorities found them of little use.
