ERHS Building and Design Students to Gather at CJ Park

May 6, 2019 By Dick Cook and Contributed Article 0 Comments

Students from the East Ridge Institute of Building and Design will culminate their Problem Based Learning Project at Camp Jordan Park on Tuesday morning.

According to Tim James, Future Ready Coordinator for East Ridge High School. students in the program picked habitat enhancement in and around the park as their focus. Their decision was based on the development of the Exit One Project in East Ridge and the environmental considerations that had to be addressed by Wolftever Development Group.

On Tuesday students will place duck boxes and bat boxes of their own design and construction in the area surrounding Camp Jordan. In addition to placement of habitat enhancement students will participate in the 1st Annual Construction Olympics. Competitions in events such as nail driving, board sawing, the real wheelbarrow race and survey stake driving will be held.

James said that students and teachers will begin habitat placement at 9:30 a.m. A sign dedication and news conference will begin at 12:00 noon at the pavilion in Camp Jordan. Lunch courtesy of East Ridge McDonald’s and drinks provided by Coca Cola will follow.
