Catholic Notches Another Win in Middle School Baseball

April 27, 2025 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

Catholic scored seven runs in the first inning, which proved more than enough offense, in defeating CSTHEA, 9-3, Saturday in middle school baseball.

The win improved Catholic’s record to 10-9 on the season. The team will travel to Berean Academy on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Myles Pruitt, Nick Pendergrass, Sam Baker, and Cooper Grant all scored for Catholic in the first. Catholic added another run in the second after Pendergrass grounded out. Patrick Donnelly added a run in the third after tagging up on fly ball and coming home.

Pruitt went 2-for-3 at the plate for Catholic, driving in two runs. Pruitt and Caleb Grass each stole multiple bases in the nine-bases swipe for the team.

Sib Evans had nine put-outs for Catholic, which went error free in the contest.

Pruitt pitched one inning as Catholic’s starter. He didn’t allow a hit but allowed two unearned runs. He walked four and fanned a batter.

Grant came on in relief and pitched four innings, recording two strike-outs and walk. He allowed only one run.

Callahan Tweed opened the game for CSTHEA Patriots, a group of home-schooled athletes. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and nine runs (six earned) over three innings, striking out none and walking seven.

Elijah Riley led CSTHEA with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The pitcher went 1-for-2 on the day. Huck Ceccotti and Riley were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for CSTHEA Patriots MS Varsity. Brooks McFarland stole two bases.
