UPDATE (Tuesday, November 28):

The parents of the 4-month-old boy found unresponsive in an East Ridge day care released a statement with more information on their son’s condition.

“Warren remains unresponsive and in critical condition while his vitals have remained stable,” says Logan Hunt, the boy’s mother. “My husband and I are trusting in the Lord and His plan to get us through this difficult time.”

Tennessee Department of Human Services spokesman Sky Arnold released an updated statement Tuesday with details into the day care investigation:

“The Tennessee Department of Human Services received notice of the incident involving a 4 month old child at the Child Care Network in East Ridge on November the 9th. Our staff began an investigation into the incident that afternoon. Upon receiving additional information November the 20th, TDHS made the decision to close all infant classrooms in the facility. A safety plan for the teacher connected to the incident was served that day.

“The safety plan requires this teacher to be supervised while working with any children in the facility.

“Additionally, Child Care Network must be ready to provide documentation of staff attendance and assignments to show this employee is supervised at all times with children. This employee will be required to participate in training prescribed by TDHS staff by December 15th.

“There is no time set time for this safety plan to expire. Safety plans are intended to be temporary until the investigation is concluded, the criteria outlined in the plan has been met and there’s no reason to believe children at the facility would be at risk.”
