Dean Appointed to Board of County Officials Association

Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk Vince Dean has been appointed to the County Officials Association of Tennessee (COAT) Board of Directors. At the 51st Annual COAT Convention held in Gatlinburg in late November, Mr. Dean was named to serve a two year term on the Board. Mr. Dean currently serves as the co-chairman for the Tennessee State Court Clerk’s Association Legislative Committee.

“We are thrilled to have Clerk Vince Dean join our Board of Directors, saod COAT Executive Director, Rodney Archer. “As a former legislator, he brings a unique perspective to our association and understands the challenges facing local governments from both sides.”

Robert Baggett, Franklin County Circuit Court Clerk and President of COAT stated, “Vince has played an integral part on the State Court Clerk’s Association Legislative Committee and will certainly be a great addition to the COAT Board of Directors. We are proud to have him.”

The County Officials Association of Tennessee is an organization that serves to promote more efficient county government throughout the 95 counties of the State of Tennessee. COAT is comprised of members of the State Court Clerk’s Association, Circuit Court Clerks, Criminal Court Clerks, Clerk and Masters, Law and Equity Clerks, Sessions Court Clerks, Juvenile Court Clerks and Probate Court Clerks, Trustee’s Association, County Clerks’ Association, and Registers’ Association.

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter. Dick covered everything from prep sports to the whitewater events on the Ocoee River for the 1996 Olympics. When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
