East Ridge Remains Perfect in Girls’ Soccer

August 29, 2018 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

East Ridge girls’ soccer coach Jeremy McIntyre told his team to “bend but not break” in facing a strong Rhea County team, and the Lady Pioneers did just that walking away with a 1-0, Tuesday at Camp Jordan.

Lucy Lopez scored off a lob pass from Ana Villegas directly in front of Rhea County’s goalie within the first two minutes of the second half. Along with Goalkeeper Sarah Hudgens’ eight saves – many of them of the diving variety – that’s all the Lady Pioneers would need to extend its record to 4-0 on the season.

Rhea County had 12 shots to East Ridge’s four.

The Lady Pioneers will attempt to keep its perfect record on the year, as they host Sweetwater on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m.
