Fire Destroys RV

November 14, 2017 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

A fire destroyed a recreational vehicle that the owner was trying to move from his yard on Tuesday morning.

According to East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, the fire was reported just before 9:30 a.m. at 1312 Pleasant Street. When firefighters arrived the recreational vehicle was about 50 percent consumed by flames. Firefighters quickly got the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.

Chief Williams said that when he was en route to the fire, thick, black smoke was rising into the sky clearly visible from Ringgold Road.  Chief Williams said because of the smoke he thought a structure may have been involved.

Chief Williams said that the owners of the RV told him that they were trying to move the vehicle from a yard and it became stuck. The owners noticed a fire under the hood and doused it with water, which only made the fire worse. Chief Williams said the cause of the fire is most probably accidental.
