HCSO Announces Passing of Eddie Sledge

On Saturday night, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Detective Eddie Sledge passed away unexpectedly, officials with the department said.

According to a press release from the HCSO, Detective Sledge was a 22-year veteran of the HCSO. He began his career as a Dispatcher in 1997. Since 2001, he has served as a Patrol Deputy, a member of the Traffic Division, and was currently serving as a Detective in Criminal Investigations Division at the time of his passing. 

“Detective Sledge was a dedicated and respected law enforcement professional regarded by all who had the pleasure of knowing or serving with him,” HCSO officials said.

Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Turner Funeral Home.

He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
