- Obey traffic signals and watch for pedestrians.
Parking Lot Safety
- Always lock your vehicle so that any firearm, valuables or purchases not carried on your person are protected.
- Shop with a friend or family member when out late.
- Hold children’s hands and stay alert in parking lots.
- Have your keys ready before reaching your vehicle and check your back seat before getting in.
- Keep valuable purchases out of sight—store them in the trunk.
In-Store & Online Shopping Safety
- Consider shopping online to avoid crowds.
- Protect yourself from scams—use trusted websites and secure payment methods.
- Avoid carrying large or bulky purses.
- Stay aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity.
- Keep a close eye on children.
- Save receipts and secure your cards and wallet after each purchase.
Lastly, remember to stay situationally aware of your surroundings—whether you are driving, walking to and from your vehicle, or while shopping. Know your surroundings and always remain alert. For those who choose to lawfully exercise their Second Amendment right to carry a firearm, always ensure it is secure on your person. If you must leave your firearm in your vehicle, always make sure it is properly secured, out of sight, and with the doors locked.
