On Wednesday, morning at 8:00 am, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted a traffic stop on a Ford Explorer in the 8500 block of Hixson Pike after observing the driver traveling 46 mph in a 25-mph school zone. The driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit.

The pursuit continued southbound on Hixson Pike for approximately four miles until the driver, identified as Kia Dixon, pulled into a convenience store in the 6400 block of Hixson Pike, where she was taken into custody. A three-year-old child and a small dog were also inside the vehicle.

Dixon was charged with the following: Speeding in a School Zone, Evading, Reckless Driving, Financial Responsibility Law, and Additional Traffic Offenses.
