The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department.

Day Shift January 29 : A Squad

26-000917 – 1200 BLK John Ross – Cruelty to Animal – Officers were requested by the East Ridge Animal Services in reference to animal abuse. Police and Animal Services spoke with the suspect who was keeping three cats in separate cages with feces and damp towels soaked in cat urine. She refused letting the cats out of the cages and having animal services put boxes of cat litter for them to use. Animal services requested ERPD press charges of cruelty to animals and remove the cats from the residence. Police cited her with a misdemeanor citation in lieu of arrest for cruelty to animals.

26-000907 – 900 BLK Spring Creek Road – Miscellaneous Complaint – Police responded after a nurse was told a guest was inhaling nitrous oxide in a patient’s room. Police seized the NO2 for destruction, checked for warrants, and sent the party on his way. The hospital staff was okay with the person remaining on property after the forfeiture of the gas.

Night Shift January 29 : C Squad

26-000919 – 4100 BLK Monroe Street – Distress Alarm – Police responded to the gas pumps after a vehicle distress alarm was reported at that location. Police Officers checked the area for the vehicle mentioned in the distress message, a white 2023 Nissan Sentra; however, the automobile was not located. Police called the vehicle owner’s phone but there was no answer. No further distress calls were received for the vehicle.

26-000923 – 1400 BLK Mack Smith Road – Suspicious Activity – While patrolling the area, a Police Officer noticed an open door at the front office building of the former hotel. Earlier in the evening, the Officer had observed the door to be closed. Several officers responded to the location and checked the building along with the surrounding area. No one was found on the property, and no new damage was observed at the location.

26-000926 – 4300 BLK Ringgold Road – Wellbeing Check – Police Officers were dispatched to the parking lot to check on a homeless male living in his vehicle. Upon arrival, Police located individual who stated that he was okay, had food, and was warm. The male further advised that he was meeting an individual the next morning who could assist him in obtaining temporary housing.
