WRCB Local 3’s Share Your ChristmasTM food drive begins November 10 and will continue through December 31. Local 3 has partnered with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank for more than 40 years to help our hungry neighbors.

This food drive benefits the more than 200,000 people, including 49,000 children, who are food insecure in our area. One in six people faces hunger, and a donation of just  $2 can provide 5 meals. Last year’s effort brought in $444,593 and 110,925 pounds of food, which provided more than 1.1M meals to those in need. Partner agencies in all 20 counties served by the food bank are seeing an increase in need, donations are needed now more than year’s past.

Residents can donate food, or monetarily at participating Food City and Walmart stores across the Tennessee Valley. Monetary contributions can also be made online at www.chattfoodbank.org/donate.

“It’s easy to see in the stories shared by our journalists each day that people in the Tennessee Valley are hurting. This year, the critical work the Chattanooga Area Food Bank does to feed our neighbors in need is more important than ever,” said Callie Starnes, Local 3 President and General Manager. “We believe that it is our privilege and responsibility as local broadcasters to use our means to share information and bring our community together around those in need. We are so grateful to serve a community that we know will answer the call and join us to supply desperately needed resources this holiday season.”

In addition to online and in store donation opportunities there is drive through food drive option. On Friday, December 12, from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Local 3 crews and CAFB personnel will be accepting donations in Chattanooga, Cleveland, and Dalton. Food collected in Cleveland and Dalton will stay in those communities.
