One Person Killed in Fiery I-75 Crash

One man was killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 75, late Monday night.

According to a press release from the East Ridge Police Department, officers responded to I-75 at Ringgold Road on a reported vehicle crash. A pickup truck crashed at the Ringgold Rd overpass.

The vehicle had left the roadway in the 6700 block of Ringgold Rd, went airborne, and landed in the center storage lane of north bound I-75. The vehicle had struck the center wall and almost immediately caught fire.

Officers at the scene attempted to assist the driver of the vehicle but were unsuccessful due to the large amount of fire engulfing the vehicle. The driver was killed in the crash/ fire. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. This was a single vehicle crash and there were no other injuries.
