Police Briefs June 29

June 29, 2017 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

Police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend then later broke into the home where she was staying to menace the woman.

According to a police report, officers were called to 336 Camp Jordan Road just after 1:30 a.m. Monday morning in reference to a domestic assault. Officers spoke with a woman who said that her boyfriend, Justin Langston, had made demeaning comments about her and the couple argued. The report states that family members who were witness to the incident believed that Langston was high on marijuana or using some other drug.

The report states that the woman said Langston shoved her and she retaliated by pushing back. She said that Langston then punched her in the face. The police report makes note of swelling on the right side of the woman’s face.

According to the report, the victim said the assault escalated with Langston punching her in the arm and shoving her down. The suspect’s sister then came to the aid of the victim. The report states that Langston shoved his sister down on the floor and continued punching his girlfriend.

According to the report, Langston’s mother  came downstairs to intervene.  The girlfriend is the mother of Langston’s child and lives with Langston’s mother. The report states that Langston’s mother said her son was “prone to fits of rage.” As the mother tried to stop the assault, the girlfriend handed off her phone to the woman who called police for help.

The report states that once Langston realized his mother was calling police he “butted his mother, knocking her into near unconsciousness.” As she lay on the floor, Langston allegedly smashed a mirror nearby. Langston’s mother cut her feet on the shattered mirror as she tried to regain her footing.

Witnesses told police that at this point Langston ran out of the back door. His girlfriend and sister gave chase. When the pair briefly caught up with Langston, they told police that he turned and once again punched his girlfriend in the face.

The report states that police were unable to find Langston in the time following the alleged assault. Police told the family to contact authorities if he returned.

According to the report, due to Langston’s violent tendencies, East Ridge police have issued a BOLO (be on the lookout for) to law enforcement in surround areas in an effort to locate the man.

_ Numerous auto burglaries have been reported in neighborhoods around the city in the last week.

On Wednesday night, auto burglaries were reported on Hardin Drive, Shady Drive and Astor Lane, records show. One thing all of the incidents had in common was that the autos were unlocked.

East Ridge police urge residents to lock their vehicles to prevent crimes of opportunity from happening.
