June 7, 2016 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

full_579_ 1503 McDonald Rd.: Police were called to the Waverly Motel last week in regard to a disorder with a weapon. According to a police report, a man staying in the motel had been chasing people around the parking lot with a gun. On arrival police made contact with a suspect and a woman who was staying in the room with him. The suspect told police that the weapon was in a duffel bag in his room. Police subsequently retrieved a Glock 26 and two loaded magazines.

After the pair was detained, the suspect told police that he was inside his room when he heard a “commotion” outside. He opened the door to see a man that goes by the name “Lucky” “pounding” on a woman and dragging her by her hair. The suspect told police that at this point he pulled the weapon and told “Lucky” he needed to leave the woman alone. The report states that “Lucky” had left the area prior to officers arriving.

The woman allegedly assaulted by “Lucky” told police that the man had assaulted her in the past but during this incident had only pushed her around a bit. The report states that officers saw old bruises on the woman’s body.  Other witnesses told police that the man running around with the gun had stopped an assault between the two.

The report states that dispatch told officers on the scene that the gun used was possibly stolen. It could not be verified at the time. Officers seized the gun and two loaded magazines.

_ 6631 State Line Rd.: Police were dispatched to the address last week on a theft. According to a police report, when police arrived they spoke with a man who told them he saw a black Suburban speeding away with the rear doors open and a lawnmower sticking out the back. Shortly thereafter the man saw a white pickup truck chasing after the Suburban down State Line Road and onto Direct Connection Drive. The report states that the man in the white pickup came back and told the witness that someone had come onto his property, took the mower and loaded it into the Suburban. The report states that the officer was unable to locate the man in the white pickup truck at the time of the report. However, the officer eventually made contact with the victim who said that her Toro push mower was missing. The report states that the officer reviewed video surveillance footage which showed an early 2000s model Suburban with damage to the rear passenger side door at the scene of the theft. The report states that the victim’s husband was at a pawn shop on Chickamauga Avenue when he saw a Suburban matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle. The man got a plate number from the vehicle. The report states that the investigation is continuing.
