Police Investigating Stabbing

September 8, 2017 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

East Ridge police are investigating a stabbing in what they are saying is a “domestic” incident.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to 734 Marley Way at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. Officers were informed that the victim, a 30-year-old Hispanic male had been taken to Parkridge East Hospital. Police were advised that the victim said he had been stabbed in the back near the door at the house. He could provide no suspect information.

The report states that when police arrived at the Marley Way address they saw that the sliding glass door to the residence was unsecured and noticed what appeared to be spots of blood on the kitchen floor. “Due to the nature of the incident and no suspect information police entered the residence to check for additional victims and suspect(s),” the report states. Authorities found no one inside the residence.

While clearing and securing the scene officers saw large amounts of what appeared to be blood throughout the house. Upon entering the kitchen, a large knife was discovered on the counter covered in what officers believed to be blood, the report states.

According to the report, the victim’s wife was at the hospital when officers arrived. The woman had what looked like a recent contusion above her right eye, the report states.

Detectives responded to the Marley Way address with a search warrant, the report states.

Assistant Police Chief Stan Allen said the incident appears to be “domestic.” He would not make any further comment about who police believe may have attacked the man from behind.

_ 1000 Bass Pro Dr.: Police were called to the address on Wednesday in regard to a theft from a vehicle. According to a police report, the victim of the theft told police that he and his sister had been inside the Bass Pro Shops for about 45 minutes only to return to his Ford pickup and find the passenger side window had been shattered. The report states that the victim entered the truck and discovered that his Glock pistol was taken from the center console.

The report states that store officials were unable to provide police with any video surveillance footage. According to the report, when the responding officer walked back out of the store after inquiring about video surveillance, he was informed that another vehicle at the location had been entered and another firearm taken. Investigators responded to the scene to process the vehicles for any evidence. The firearm was entered into a crime data base as having been stolen.
