The Metropolitan Bells is an advanced community handbell ensemble consisting of 14 auditioned ringers from the greater Chattanooga area.  They perform on seven octaves of Malmark bells and seven octaves of Malmark choir chimes. Established by founding director, Ken Cochrane, The Metropoliban Bells has enjoyed performances with the Chattanooga Symphony, the Chattanooga Boys Choir and the Chattanooga Girls Choir.  The group has also performed for numerous civic groups and community events over the years.The goal of the organization is to bring advanced sacred and secular handbell music to the community and to promote the art and enjoyment of handbell ringing.  Now in its 25th year, the group is currently under the direction of Gary Bynum.  
 
Ringers for 2018-2019:  Karen Bieberitz, Chris Forrester, Jo Grant, Becky Hall, Jad Johnson
Martha King, Debbie Larmore, Carole Millard, Noelle Myers, Becky Price, Hali Reynolds, Jan Reynolds,
Sherry Shaver, and Julie Smith.
 
For our 2018 Holiday Concerts,  we are featuring several new arrangements of popular classics including Little Saint Nick, The Man with the Bag, and Holly Jolly Christmas.  We will also ring in the season with Joy to the World, The First Noel, and Silent Night, as we celebrate our 25th year.

Dick Cook has lived in East Ridge since the Kennedy Administration when his parents bought a house on Marietta Street. Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. Dick worked for the Chattanooga Free-Press and the Chattanooga Times Free Press for 22 years. Free-Press Sports Editor Roy Exum plucked him out of production in 1989 and gave him a job as a sports reporter. Dick covered everything from prep sports to the whitewater events on the Ocoee River for the 1996 Olympics. When Chattanooga's two paper's merged, he became the Crime Reporter covering both the Chattanooga Police and Fire Departments. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
