TDOT to Evaluate Moore Road Bridge over I-24 East in Chattanooga for Possible Future Repairs

January 20, 2020 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

Beginning at 10:00 p.m. EST on Monday, January 20, 2020, TDOT crews will evaluate the Moore Road bridge over I-24 East near mile marker 184 in Chattanooga to determine if future repairs may be necessary to add reinforcement to the outer beam. The bridge was recently struck by a truck hauling an oversized piece of construction equipment.

During theevaluation, the Moore Road bridge and I-24 East beneath the bridge will be closed to traffic. Interstate traffic will be detoured off at Exit 184 and back onto I-24 East. The Tennessee Highway Patrol and TDOT HELP trucks will assist with traffic control during the closure. All lanes will be fully reopened by 6:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

This work is weather dependent. Should weather or unforeseen circumstances postpone this work, it will be rescheduled to take place as soon as possible.
