Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

A traffic stop on Tuesday led to drug charges against an East Ridge woman.

Shayna Kay Gaddis, 26, was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

According to a police report, an officer stopped a car driven by a man who gave his name as a Timothy Cluck. The officer also asked for identification from the female passenger. The report states that the female passenger opened a red wallet to get her ID, the officer noticed a number of small baggies in the wallet typically associated with drug trafficking. The pair were detained and the officer searched the handbag of the woman, later identified as Gaddis,  

The report states that when a female officer patted down Gaddis, she found multiple small bags of suspected drugs, including marijuana, more than eight grams of methamphetamine and Xanax pills.

The driver of the vehicle, Barry Lynn Cluck, 49, of Rossville, who initially gave a false name, was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Impersonation, Driving without a License and a traffic violation.

Josh Merciers

_ 4200 Kenton Dr.: Police were called to the address on Tuesday morning to investigate a suspicious persons complaint. According to a report, the caller said two people were walking and going behind houses in the area. Police arrived and located the parties. The female, the report states, was known to police through previous encounters. The male gave his name as Brett Merciers.

The officer immediately ran the name and information given to her through the in-car computer to see if it verified. The report states the officer asked the man if his name was Josh Merciers, and the man said that was his brother. Police were able to locate a prior booking photograph and verified the man was indeed Josh Merciers. Merciers, 26, of a 26th Street address in Chattanooga, had active warrants on him for Armed Carjacking through Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. 

Merciers was taken to the Hamilton County Jail where he remains behind bars without bond.
