Two people suffered only minor injuries after a two-car accident on Belvoir Avenue where one of the cars was cut in half.

The accident was reported at 10 p.m. on Friday evening in the 800 block of the busily-traveled street, officials said. According to Fire Chief Mike Williams, the accident was originally reported that a person may be trapped in one of the cars.

Chief Williams said that when firefighters arrived, one of the vehicles was on its side, while the other was cut completely in half. However, no occupants were trapped inside either vehicle, he said.

Two people in the crash suffered only minor injuries, Chief Williams said.

“Great job Red shift, all off-duty fire personnel and East Ridge Police,” Chief Williams posted on the East Ridge Fire and Rescue Facebook page.
