The Master Gardeners of Hamilton County, in association with the University of Tennessee Extension, present their 4th annual “Master Your Garden” Garden Expo on Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10, 2016, at Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge.

Open to the public, the hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is $5 for both days (cash or check).  Children under 12 are admitted free.  Free parking is available.  For updated information, visit www.mghc.org.

Focusing on gardening and the outdoors, the Expo brings together an array of exhibits, demonstrations, educational activities, and vendors of interest to experienced gardeners, gardening enthusiasts, browsers, and children.MGHC_Expo_Market

On both days, Master Gardeners will present workshops on such topics as raised bed gardening, edible landscaping, composting, lawn care, and pest control, as well as a Question & Answer table responding to a wide range of gardening questions from the general public.  The Expo will also feature a variety of educational seminars led by noted experts.

In addition, there will be a special area for children ages 2-12 offering nature-related stories and hands-on craft activities.  In the marketplace, vendors will offer a variety of plants, including bonsai trees, daylilies, ferns, herbs, mushrooms, roses, and orchids, as well as plant care tools and landscaping equipment.  Nature-inspired handcrafted items include birdhouses, foods, jewelry, pottery, and yard art.  Door prizes, donated by area garden-related businesses, will be given away throughout the two-day Expo.

Master Gardeners of Hamilton County is a non-profit, educational, volunteer organization that plays an important role in the civic life of Chattanooga and the surrounding area.  Among the many on-going landscaping and garden projects undertaken by MGHC are: Audubon Acres, Bonnie Oaks Arboretum, Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center, Chattanooga Area Food Bank, Chattanooga Aquarium and Hummingbird Garden, Chattanooga Zoo, and Siskin Children’s Garden.
