East Ridge Police are questioning an individual in regard to a Tuesday afternoon shooting at an apartment complex on Roper Street.

According to East Ridge police, officers were dispatched to investigate reported gunshots at the Newcastle apartments on Roper Street. While en route, officers were informed the victim of a shooting was being taken by private vehicle to Parkridge East.

Police learned that the alleged shooter had fled the scene in another vehicle. When officers were securing the area, police said the person who took off returned to the scene and said he was involved in the shooting.

According to ERPD, the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
