Police Briefs for January 31

The following information is courtesy of the East Ridge Police Department.

Day Shift January 30

24-001265- 1000 BLK Bass Pro Drive- Shoplifter- The caller advised a female was observed concealing ammunition in her purse. On scene officers were able to stop the female and her male driver. They were identified and a misdemeanor citation was issued.

Night Shift January 30

24-001272 – 1400 BLK Mack Smith Road – Fraud Call – The receptionist was scammed by a caller claiming he was “the sheriff” but refused to give his name or department, and demanded she pay for missed court. Police advised the call was a scam and to share this info with her co-workers.

24-001278 – 4300 BLK Spriggs Street – Prowler – Police responded to this location for a prowler complaint. RP said her son saw a young male dressed in all black looking through the window into his bedroom. No suspect was on sight upon police arrival. Police conducted additional patrol in this area throughout the shift.

24-001279 – 1400 BLK Manna Lane – Crash-Property Damage-Hit and Run – Police responded for what was initially a suspicious activity complaint. Upon approach, police found an abandoned BMW 328i with its flashers on and no people around the vehicle. Police deduced this was the vehicle that was in question with the initial call and found it to have crashed into one of the mailboxes. Police spoke with the property owner at this location and provided him with the case number to file with insurance. The suspected driver was not located.

24-001283 – 3600 BLK Gleason Drive – Burglar Alarm – Officers responded to a glass break alarm at an unoccupied residence. There were no signs of forced entry or of destruction at residence.

Dick graduated from ERHS in 1976 before going on to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he studied Political Science. He was among reporters who were honored by the Associated Press for the TFP's coverage of the 2002 fog-shrouded crash on I-75 in Catoosa County, Dick and his wife, Cathy, live on Marlboro Avenue where they are seen frequently chasing around their three grandsons.
