East Ridge to Induct 10 into Pioneer Athletic Hall of Fame

Mother and Daughter to be Inducted in Same Class

East Ridge High School will recognize 10 new inductees into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame this Friday. The 2024 class will be the ninth inducted into the Hall of Fame. Recognition of the recipients will occur at halftime of the Pioneers’ football contest against Signal Mountain High School.

This class will be unique, as a mother and daughter, Diana Monson Brock and Laura Brock Vaught, who graduated 32 year apart, will be inducted in the same class.

Anthony Anderson – Class of 2004 – Football, Track

100 meter Track State Champion and school record holder; Signed with Carson-Newman for football; All-City Football & Track.

Diana Monson Brock – Class of 1975 – Basketball, Volleyball

Played basketball and volleyball at UTC; Coached college volleyball at Covenant, winning conference Coach of the Year; Assistant Coach to Catherine Neely for 25 seasons, winning two State Championships and making 10 State Tournament appearances.

Tiffany Baker Gilbert – Class of 2006 – Softball, Volleyball

2006 Tennessee Softball Gatorade Player of the Year; signed softball scholarship with University of Tennessee; Transferred to UTC and made All-SoCon three times; Career and single-season UTC home run leader with 50 (3rd in SoCon) and 18 dingers (led SoCon in 2011); SoCon Nominee for NCAA Woman of the Year in 2011; EA Sports Softball High School All-American 2006; Coached softball collegiately at both ETSU and TN Tech; key contributor on 2005 East Ridge volleyball State Championship team.

Meredith Haskew Grant – Class of 2007 – Volleyball, Softball, Basketball

School Record for volleyball digs in career, in a single season, and per-match; East Ridge volleyball jersey retired; key contributor on 2005 East Ridge volleyball State Championship team.

Jason Mansfield – Class of 1989 – Wrestling

1989 TSSAA 112-Pound State Wrestling Champion; First freshman to crack the starting lineup for ERHS wrestling team; Two-time District Wrestling Champion.

Sandy Mauser – Coached Softball, Basketball, Track, and Volleyball at East Ridge High

Four-time Softball Coach of the Year; Best of Preps COY 2005; four district and four region softball titles; One State Tournament appearance; 241 career softball coaching wins; played softball collegiately at Kent State where she was two-time team captain, 1985 All-MAC and set Kent State record for stolen bases.

Grant McCullough – Class of 1986 – Baseball, Football, Basketball

Scrappy Moore Athlete of the Year Award for East Ridge (nominee for City award); News-Free Press All-City Football; played college baseball at Chattanooga State and Lincoln-Memorial University; Chattanooga State MVP, All-Conference, highest batting average 1988; LMU MVP, 2nd Team All-Conference, B.Frank Turner Award for Student-Athlete Leadership 1990.

Kylie Hunter Neal – Class of 1990 – Volleyball, Basketball, Softball

All-State volleyball 1989 and 1988 Fall; two-time All-Region and All-District Volleyball; Region and District Volleyball Player of the Year (MVP) 1989 Fall; Player of the Year for both Chattanooga News Free-Press and Chattanooga Times 1989 Fall; key contributor on 1988 Fall East Ridge Volleyball State Runner-Up team which led the nation in wins; played college volleyball for UTC making 2nd Team All-SoCon and leading the nation in digs in 1991; Fifth in digs per game in NCAA Division I Volleyball; 14-year record for digs at UTC; sixth in career kills for UTC.

Kathy Tate Teufel – Class of 1989 – Volleyball, Softball, Basketball

First-ever ERHS four-year letter winner in three sports; Scored over 1,000 career points in basketball; Led the Region in softball batting average; Two-time All District and All Region in all three sports; key contributor on 1988 Fall East Ridge volleyball State Runner-Up team which led the nation in wins; played college volleyball at UTC for two seasons where she led the SoCon in service aces and digs in 1989.

Laura Brock Vaughn – Class of 2007 – Volleyball, Basketball, Softball

Four-time Volleyball All-State; 2005 State Volleyball Tournament MVP for State Champions; four-time Volleyball All-Region and All-District; Region and District MVP; Four-time Best of Preps Volleyball; 2005 Times Free Press Neely-Merrill Award for Volleyball Player of the Year; East Ridge volleyball jersey retired; TSWA All-State Softball 2006; Played college volleyball for two seasons at MTSU and two seasons at UTC.
