Residents are advised of a temporary closure of the Belvoir Avenue Bridge over Interstate 24 on Friday, April 24, in connection with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) celebrating the completion of Phase 2 of the I-75/I-24 Interchange project.
The bridge is expected to be closed for approximately three to four hours beginning prior to the event and continuing through equipment setup, the ceremony, and breakdown. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
TDOT officials selected the Belvoir Avenue Bridge as the ceremony location due to its vantage point overlooking the completed project area and its ability to safely accommodate guests and media. Traffic control measures will be managed by TDOT throughout the closure period.
Motorists, especially East Ridge residents who regularly use the Belvoir Avenue Bridge for travel, are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during the closure window.
The City of East Ridge appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as TDOT marks this major transportation milestone for the region.
