The City of East Ridge is proud to announce the official blessing and unveiling ceremony for the City’s new Safe Haven Baby Box, located at East Ridge Fire Rescue Station 1, at 4214 Ringgold Road.
In partnership with Safe Haven Baby Boxes, the City will host the public ceremony on Friday, May 22, at 11:00 a.m. The Safe Haven Baby Box provides a secure, safe, and anonymous option for mothers in crisis to legally surrender an infant, while ensuring immediate notification and response from emergency personnel.
The East Ridge installation marks the 442nd Safe Haven Baby Box in the nation and the 30th in the State of Tennessee, further expanding access to safe surrender resources and infant protection programs across the region.
City officials expressed appreciation to the many individuals and organizations who helped make the project possible, including representatives from Safe Haven Baby Boxes, East Ridge Fire Rescue Department personnel, Mayor Brian Williams, City Council members, city administration, and community supporters who contributed their time, effort, and dedication toward bringing this life-saving resource to East Ridge.
“The City of East Ridge remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community and ensuring families facing crisis situations have access to safe and legal options,” Fire Chief Mike Williams stated. “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a role in making this project a reality and bringing this important resource to East Ridge.”
The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony and learn more about how Safe Haven Baby Boxes provide support, safety, and hope for infants and families during moments of crisis.
