On the morning of October 20, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Warrants Unit detectives were attempting to serve an arrest warrant at a hotel in the 7300 block of Shallowford Road when the subject of the warrants made threats and began stabbing themselves in the neck with a knife.

Deputies immediately administered life-saving measures, and Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services and the Chattanooga Fire Department responded to assist. The subject was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where they unfortunately did not survive their injuries.

The deceased person was facing charges of Domestic Assault, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Burglary, and two counts of Violation of an Order of Protection.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) was requested to investigate the incident at the request of District Attorney General Coty Wamp.

This information is preliminary and subject to change.
