Pioneers Tame Lions in Double-Overtime

East Ridge advanced to the third round of the TSSAA Class 3A Football playoffs with a 35-28, double-overtime win over Red Bank, Friday, at Tom Weathers Field.

East Ridge (7-5) will now travel to Sequatchie County next Friday in a quarterfinal game.

Eric Bennett connected with Jordan Harvey on a 10-yard pass in the second overtime to provide the winning margin.

Bennett finished the night with four total touchdowns, including a 56-yard toss to Harvey in the third quarter. Bennett was 5-for-9 for 87 yards passing.

Traneil Moore rushed 28 times for 134 yards, including a four-yard plunge in overtime on fourth down to keep the Pioneers in the contest.

Lorenzo Steward rushed for 51 yards on 10 carries.
