Police Briefs for Aug. 17

_ East Ridge police arrested a woman on drug charges after officers were called to Superior Creek Lodge. According to an Affidavit of Complaint, officers went to 1410 N. Mack Smith Rd,, Thursday, on a reported assault. After the people involved in the fight were separated, officers spoke with a witness who identified Danielle Peters, 29, of a Swope Road address, as the person who was fighting with a motel employee. The report states that Peters got a wallet from inside a black backpack to show officers identification. The report states that Peters was wanted out of Hamilton County Sessions Court. Peters was placed into custody. A search of the backpack incident to arrest yielded a change purse containing 13 syringes and about 45 Busiprone pills, a prescription sedative. The report states that Peters did not have a prescription for the pills. Police also found a black box inside the backpack with 5.5 grams of counterfeit methamphetamine, a digital scale, a spoon with white residue and hundreds of jeweler’s bags commonly used for packaging narcotics. The report states that police also found Oxycodone pills, Alprazolam pills and a meth pipe. Officers also found $384 in cash. Peters was charged with Possession of Schedule II drugs, Possession of Schedule IV Drugs, Possession of Legend Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Counterfeit Controlled Substances. She is due to appear in East Ridge Municipal Court on Sept. 1.

_ Police arrested Mario J. Smith, 32, of a Montview Drive address, on domestic violence charges. According to an Affidavit of Complaint, police were called to a Moreview Road address last month. Officers spoke with a woman who told them that her boyfriend, Smith, assaulted her in her driveway. The report states that the victim told officers that Smith started cursing her and charged toward her before smacking her in the face with an open hand. The victim told officers that Smith grabbed her by the hair and slung her to the ground. The report states that a witness tried to separate the pair unsuccessfully. The report states that Smith ran off before police arrived. Smith was later arrested and charged with two counts of Domestic Assault, Vandalism/Malicious Mischief and Stalking. Smith is due to appear in City Court on Aug. 25.
