Police Briefs Sept. 5

September 5, 2018 By Dick Cook 1 Comment

A marital dispute early Saturday morning led to a drunken naked woman being taken back to her home and her husband being arrested for DUI at Camp Jordan Park.

According to a police report, officers were called to Camp Jordan Parkway at about 3:30 a.m. when a passing motorist reported seeing a naked woman walking down the sidewalk. The motorists said that as she was checking out the naked woman, a white male with long, black hair tried to jump in front of her car. The man failed to stop the car and he immediately ran into the woods.

The report states that when officers arrived they discovered a woman sitting on the sidewalk completely naked. The woman told police that she had gone to the pavilion at Camp Jordan to meet several men who had asked her to pose for a calendar. Once there, the woman claimed they got her drunk and tried to sexually assault her. She told police that she fought the men off and lost her clothes in the process. The report states the woman was “heavily intoxicated,” and she said she was hiding in the woods waiting for her chance to escape.

The report states that a few minutes after police talked to the naked woman, her “heavily intoxicated” husband showed up. He told police that the couple had been drinking earlier in the evening and got into a dispute. The man said that he and his wife decided to go to Camp Jordan to discuss the matter. The man said once they got to Camp Jordan they continued to imbibe and continued to argue. The man said the argument escalated to a point where his wife “threw off her clothes” and ran off down the road.

The report states the naked woman was not only intoxicated but “suffers from some form of mental illness as well.” The naked woman was taken back to her home by a family friend. Her husband, however, was arrested at the scene and charged with DUI.

The report states the man who jumped in front of the motorist who originally called police was a friend of the couple who thought the motorist was the drunken naked woman’s husband and was attempting to flag him down.

_ 5080 South Terrace: Police were dispatched to the address early Sunday evening on a report of a dog locked inside a hot vehicle. The temperature at the time of the dispatch was 92 degrees Fahrenheit. According to a police report, when officers arrived they saw a silver Mercedes SUV bearing Georgia plates with two dogs inside the vehicle. The windows on the Mercedes were cracked less than an inch providing insufficient ventilation for the animals. Officers attempted to contact the vehicle’s owner via telephone but were unable to establish contact. Police called for firefighters to respond in assisting an Animal Control officer in opening the vehicle and rescuing the two dogs. The report states that Animal Control officers took the dogs and transported them to the animal shelter. The Animal Control officer left contact information and instructions for the owner on retrieving the animals.
