Pioneers Blank ‘Cats in Boys’ High School Soccer; Drop Extra-Inning Game on Diamond

April 5, 2019 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

East Ridge traveled to Hixson Thursday and shutout the Wildcats, 2-0, in a District 8-A/AA contest.

The win improves the Pioneers record on the year to 4-4 and 2-1 in district play.

Goalkeeper Tranquilini Calel Tzun had three saves as the stingy Pioneer defense allowed only six shots.

Zhubin Salih and Luis Diaz Velasquez accounted for East Ridge’s scoring. Daniel Bautista Tercero was credited with an assist.

The Pioneers will travel to Grace on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game.

_ East Ridge’s Diamond 9 took it on the chin, Thursday, losing to CSAS, 9-8, in a 10-inning contest.

The visiting Pioneers (4-8) out-hit the Patriots, 11-8. However, East Ridge committed eight errors in the contest.

Justin Tiller and Tra Jett each had three hits for the Pioneers.

Next up for East Ridge is a Monday road game to always dangerous Central. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
