Teriyaki of Japan Opening Sunday

October 29, 2015 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

TOJ Grand Opening

One of East Ridge’s favorite restaurants will once again be serving hungry customers, as Teriyaki of Japan opens its doors Sunday, Nov. 1, in its new location.

The oriental restaurant was forced to move from its former location on Ringgold Road to make room for the new Walmart. The new location is at 3992 Ringgold Road, in front of East Ridge Elementary School near John Ross Road.

“We never even thought about leaving East Ridge,” said owner Yeni Bun. “We love East Ridge.”

Bun said the new location, six months in the making, came about with the help of the developers of Walmart. She said they helped her find the new location, once home to a used car lot. Bun said the move was not easy but installing restaurant equipment in an empty shell of building helped matters.

“This restaurant seats 46 people,” she said of the 2,100 square-foot building. “The old one had seats for about 80. So this is smaller and will make it a little easier.”

The convenience that many customers enjoyed of a drive-thru window is not going away. Workers were busy Thursday afternoon hooking up LED lighting for this location’s drive-thru.

Don’t worry about the menu changing, as Bun said it has virtually remained the same. She said the kitchen is smaller and Teriyaki of Japan will no longer offer some of the sushi items, which were not big sellers to begin with.

The same tasty Teriyaki Chicken, the most popular item six months ago before the move, will most probably retain its popularity as the largest selling item on the menu, Bun said. For the first few days of the Grand Opening, some dishes will be discounted

Teriyaki of Japan is open Monday through Friday from 11:20 a.m. until 9 p.m. They are open on Saturday’s and Sundays from noon until 9 p.m. Contact Teriyaki of Japan at 423-475-5852 and like them on Facebook.
