‘Beautification Day’ Vols Needed at ERMS

May 12, 2017 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

If you want to help make a difference with young kids in East Ridge, tomorrow may be your chance.

East Ridge Middle School is having its first-ever “beautification day” this Saturday. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., officials said.

Assistant Principal Tyler Rich is asking for help from parents, students and citizens at-large to grab some work gloves and show up at the Bennett Road school to help in the effort to beautify the grounds.

“We’re trying to pump some new energy into this place,” said Rich, who is in his first year as an administrator at the school with about 700 students. “We’re looking for people to buy in.”

Here’s the plan: bring some work gloves and a shovel if you want to help out. Breakfast of coffee, biscuits and donuts comes with showing some interest. The City of East Ridge is donating a truckload of mulch and Rich needs people to shovel it all across the campus.

In addition, if you like to paint, you’ll have an opportunity to put some on the walls of three or four classrooms. If that isn’t your thing, Rich said he’ll need some backs to move some boxes out of the library to get it prepped for a new floor in the summer.

Your sweat equity will be rewarded with a lunch, consisting of the ever-popular, can’t-miss PIZZA.

“There’s going to be plenty to do,” Rich said. “We want to get as many of these things done as possible.”

If it’s raining, don’t worry. Rich said the event will go on rain or shine … just won’t be any mulch spreading.
