In the early morning hours of Friday, December 26, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Corrections Deputies discovered an unresponsive inmate during a welfare check in the Bravo housing unit and additional personnel responded to assist. Deputies and medical personnel immediately initiated life-saving measures, including CPR and notified Hamilton County EMS.

The inmate, Deshawn Brazell, was transported to a local medical facility, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp was notified and has directed the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to conduct the investigation. Upon completion, all findings will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
