East Ridge Downs Signal, 23-17

September 29, 2019 By Dick Cook and Contributed Article 0 Comments

East Ridge beat Signal Mountain, 23-17, Saturday night in a non-region high school football game at Raymond James Stadium.

The win improves the Pioneers’ record to 3-2 on the year.

East Ridge had a goal-line stand just before halftime and opened the third quarter with a 10-7 lead. The game went back and forth in the third quarter before Jalen Boykin broke it open on a 52-yard scoring run to establish Pioneer prominence.

East Ridge’s ground game was well established, as the Pioneers rushed for more than 300 yards in the contest.

The game was postponed until Saturday as a result of a lightning storm over much of the area on Friday night.

East Ridge will travel to Anderson County next Friday.
