ERPD Investigating Robbery

April 1, 2016 By Dick Cook 0 Comments

East Ridge police are investigating the reported robbery of a woman at the Spring Creek Garden Apartments.

According to a  police report, officers were dispatched Thursday evening to a robbery from person call at 950 Spring Creek Road. Officers spoke with a woman who said that she had gone to the apartment complex to meet a man whom she used to date casually. The victim told officers she wasn’t exactly sure what apartment her friend lived in, but that he met her in the breezeway of the building.

The woman told officers that after she saw her friend she encountered a young bi-racial man that she went to high school with. The report states as the pair walked in the breezeway the man asked the victim if she “had a few dollars she could spare.” The victim told the man that she did not, and according to the report, the man grabbed the victim’s purse and slung her to the ground. The victim told officers she tried to get away, but before she could the man reached into her purse and grabbed $60 cash and a pre-paid debit Visa card. The report states that officers saw that the victim had an abrasion on her elbow and that she complained that her leg was hurting.

The victim told officers that she saw the suspect take off in a blue/silver Chrysler Sebring. The report states that officers spoke with a witness who backed up the victim’s account of the alleged crime. The witness was able to get a photograph of the car from the rear, including its license plate. The investigation is ongoing, the report states.
